Kristen is the Director of Accounting here at Coach-Net and has been an invaluable member of the Coach-Net family for over 20 years now! She, her husband, and her two boys go on camping trips every year, but they have now been able to take Coach-Net’s Airstream out 3 times! Most recently, they went camping over Easter Weekend in Brownwood State Park! Check out their RV experience!

Where did you go?

We traveled to Brownwood State Park for a camping trip this past April.  This was a relaxing 3-hour drive out in west Texas. The state park was very nice, with some good hiking trails, biking areas, and a lake for fishing.

How long was your trip?

We camped for 3 nights over Easter weekend.  This is an annual event that we enjoy with 2 other families.  The kids look forward to the Easter Egg hunt Sunday morning.

Was this your 1st time RVing?

No, we have been able to go RVing about a handful of times now.  We have been camping for years and have recently switched from a tent to a camper.  My whole family really looks forward to each camping trip. It’s great to see my boys out exploring, throwing the football or frisbee, and playing with their friends instead of staring at their tablets.

What’s the fondest memory of your trip?

Watching all the kids go exploring.  We have 5 kids in our group of 3 families.  They gathered up the walkie-talkies and their backpacks for their explorations around the campground.  They were having so much fun together figuring out where to go and they drew up maps of their explorations when they got back to our campsites.  I love seeing all the kids disconnect from their screens and have fun outdoors.  We also enjoyed a family movie night under the stars this year.  We put up a movie screen and made some popcorn.  It was something new and fun for everyone!

Did you find anything challenging about your RV trip?

We have gotten pretty familiar with the RV by now.  We are able to get everything connected and set up pretty quickly.  This trip went very smoothly and we didn’t have any issues with the camper or campsite.

Would you go again? (& Why)

Definitely we will be going camping again.  We have a trip scheduled in Huntsville State Park in October.

Where would you like to go next?

We have a trip scheduled to go to Huntsville State Park.  Another one possibly in Pedernales State Park in November.  We go with the same group of family friends in the spring and fall every year.  We have been able to camp with this same group for over 10 years.  Now that a couple of us have campers, we plan to go more often than just 2 times per year.

Why do you love RVing?

RVing is such a great time.  We have been camping for years and our family really enjoys the outdoors and hanging out together.  Our boys (years 11 & 8) look forward to our RV trips weeks before we head out.  I would say the best part of RVing/camping are these special memories we are making as a family.

Coach-Net Camping: Weekend At Texas Motorplex

Leonard, one of our RV-certified technicians, has been with Coach-Net for over 6 years and has been RVing for over 30 years! He and his family had the opportunity to take Rosie, the Coach-Net Airstream, out to the Texas Motorplex for the weekend! They had a blast! Here’s a look into his trip!

Where did you go?

On March 25th, a few family members and I headed down to camp at the Texas Motorplex for the exciting weekend of Funny Car Chaos drag races.  The track is located in Ennis, Texas, which is about 30 miles south of Dallas.

Our route from North Texas took us on Loop 12 to avoid the traffic through downtown Dallas. It was a nice 1 1/2 drive, and we were amazed by all the growth in the area.  Once at the track, we parked in our RV spot with full hookups, right on the fence of the spectator side.  It had the perfect view of all the action on the track, and close enough for us to walk if we choose to sit in the stands. My dad raced the Smokey Bear funny car for many years, so we continue to enjoy attending these racing events and seeing many good friends.

How long was your trip?

We Camped at the track Thursday through Saturday night which allowed for easy access to the 2 full days of drag racing.  It was nice to have a close spot to rest and get out of the weather as well.  We enjoyed tailgating with many old and new friends, and meeting our camping neighbors.  There were hundreds of RV’s from all over the U.S. around the track with people experiencing all the sights and sounds.

Was this your 1st time RVing?

We have been RVing since our first “pop up” in 97.  Through the years, we have owed and enjoyed camping in several travel trailers and one motor home.  This time we used Coach-Net’s truck and 2019 Airstream Flying Cloud.  It was perfect for this short camping trip, very easy to tow/set-up, and roomy enough for 4 adults.

What’s the fondest memory of your trip?

Spending time with family is always on the list of why we camp, but seeing 68 drag racing “FUNNY CARS” was this weekends main objective.  The races and fuel alters were outstanding.  At one point, we were in the camper and felt the whole thing shake as a car went by at over 300 mph setting a speed world record.  A memory we won’t soon forget!

Where would you like to go next?

We have a tentative trip in the works for June, just need to decide where we want to go. Also, we already have reservations to enjoy the Coach-Net Airstream again in October when we attend the weekend of Funny Car Chaos racing, this time in beautiful San Antonio, Texas.

Why do you love RVing?

Our favorite thing about RVing is that you can go anywhere, anytime and have an awesome adventure in your temporary house wherever YOU WANT! We wish everyone continued safe travels in their RVing journey.

Coach-Net Camping: El Paso, Texas

Camping In El Paso, Camping Stories, Coach-Net Blog, Coach-Net Camping, Coach-Net RV, Texas Camping

Demarcus and Me’Chelle Parker have been in the Coach-Net family for a total of 6 years now. Demarcus works as a Dispatch Center Agent and Me’Chelle works as our Talent Development Specialist. They were recently able to, with their two sweet boys, take the Airstream, Rosie on a trip to El Paso to see a couple co-workers that live out there! They are kind, RV-loving people who we’re thankful to have in our Coach-Net Family. Read on to see how their trip went!

Where did you go?

A few months ago, we took a trip to El Paso to see some friends and fellow co-workers (Gabie & Luis) here at Coach-Net! They work remotely now and we hadn’t seen them in a while, so we were super excited to head out there and spend some time with them. We also brought along our two beautiful children who were surprisingly quiet for the long ride! Bug (our oldest) loved seeing the trucks pass by as he tried to name each one of them.

How long was your trip?

With it being such a long drive for us, we wanted to make sure we stayed for plenty of time, so we decided to make it a week-long affair! The trip was amazing and there was something to do every day with our sweet friends.

Was this your 1st time RVing?

Actually, this was our second time RVing and I’ve loved it both times! The best part for me is being able to camp comfortably with my family.

Did you find anything challenging about your RV trip?

The most challenging thing about the trip was the truck needed service. We had to buy and refill the transmission fluid because it was low. But that was a simple fix! We also had to navigate the RV through some mountains, it was our first time doing that so it was a little scary being that there were no guard rails. However, it was beautiful, and worth the angst! And of course, traveling with two little ones, we had to stop a few times for bathroom breaks, but aside from that, it was easygoing!

Would you go again?

Yes, I really want to go for Spring break or over the summer and spend another week in El Paso. We really loved it out there!

Where would you like to go next?

Our friend we visited, Gabie, wants to take us to Mexico soon so we’re planning on that for our next trip.

Why do you love RVing?

I love RVing because it gives us a chance to relax as a family in one place. Even though we live in the same house we all have different things we like to do. When we are RVing we get to spend quality time together.

Coach-Net Camping: A South Texas Getaway

Where did you go?

We went to Corpus Christi over Thanksgiving. It was about an 8-hour drive from Dallas, but we took a less direct route and traveled through some beautiful country roads. We stayed near Lake Corpus Christi instead of directly at the beach. It was nice and quiet and still close enough to make several beach trips.

How long was your trip?

We were gone for 8 days. We chose this particular park because it had full hookups including sewer and WIFI. We were able to work remotely, which allowed us to stay gone a little longer. It was nice having sewer on site, so we didn’t have to worry about having to utilize a dump station mid-trip.

Was this your 1st time RVing?

We are experienced campers, but this was one of our favorite trips. It is nice having a 5th wheel because you can disconnect and still have your truck to explore without having to lug a full-sized RV with you. Previously, we had only tent camped at the beach and it makes a huge difference having a full bathroom to rinse off all of the salt and sand.

What’s the fondest memory of your trip?

My fondest memory was surf fishing on Mustang Island. We bought some shrimp from a local bait shop and all three of us caught fish (mine was biggest!). It was fun to see my daughter try to reel in fish with the giant surf rod that was bigger than her.

Did you find anything challenging about your RV trip?

We did not have any issues with the trailer this time, but it was my first time cooking a full Thanksgiving dinner in an RV. We brought along our smoker for the turkey but still utilized our instant pot and oven quite a bit. I discovered that if you adjust the temp 10 degrees warmer on the RV oven than you would at home that things come out perfect.

Would you go again?

Absolutely! We had a great time exploring the Corpus Christi / Mustang Island area. We have a Texas State Park Pass and there are several state parks near there to explore. Next time we would probably pick a campground closer to the beach as the one we chose was kind of out in the middle of nowhere.

Where would you like to go next?

Our next trip will be to visit family for a few weeks in Arizona, but the next big vacation that we have planned will be to explore Florida. I traveled there a few years ago for work and can’t wait to bring the family back.

Why do you love RVing?

Our whole family loves RVing. We use it to get away and experience nature, but also as housing for longer trips to visit family. Even when you are working remotely, RVing gives you a break from the normal routine and house chores that would usually distract you. We spend much more time outside and together as a family in general. It’s the best.

Coach-Net Camping: Haley – Never Stop

If you’ve followed us on social media, you know that Haley has been an avid camper for many years now, but this past year was a busy one for her! She has traveled to many places and had some awesome experiences! Here’s her recap on the year!

We went camping quite a bit in 2020. Tyler State Park, Caddo Lake, Lake Ray Roberts, and our most recent trip was to Alto, New Mexico, and White Sands National Park.

Haley in White Sands National Park

Most of our camping destinations are weekend trips. There are a lot of beautiful parks that are only a couple hours away so, it’s easy to plan these miniature vacations.

I turned the big 3-0 a few weeks ago and my favorite place to celebrate anything is Caddo Lake State Park in Karnack, Texas. We got there in the afternoon. We drove around a bit and took some photos and got to kayak on the lake.

Caddo Lake

That evening we had the most amazing meal at Marilynn’s Place in Shreveport. The next day we went over to the park, went hiking, and walked around under the amazing cypress trees and Spanish moss.

Our most recent trip was to New Mexico for Christmas. This took a little longer but, it’s absolutely gorgeous and well worth the drive. I don’t know if people have favorite types of dirt but, I love seeing terracotta and there’s more than plenty in west Texas.

Especially in Brownfield. It’s mostly farmland so, the contrast between the orange dirt and green crops against the big blue sky is breathtaking. My boyfriend had never experienced Roswell so, it was fun to see his reaction to the martian shaped streetlamps, dental and law offices with pictures of UFOs on their signs, and a family reunion group wearing matching outer space t-shirts.

We spent a few days with my family in Alto where we hiked, had picnics, and came face to face with some elk. On the last day, we headed for White Sands National Park. I had wanted to go there since I was a kid and it was everything I could have hoped for. We immediately began making plans to go back and tent camp. After an entire roll of film, we started to head home.

White Sands National Park

We were pretty far south so, we took a different route. This took us through the mountains and an apple orchard town called Cloudcroft. A place that can only be described as adorable. We drove through a mountainside tunnel and all of the Lincoln National Forrest. New Mexico is called The Land of Enchantment and it certainly doesn’t fall short.

We have already booked our next camping trip. We’re going to Mineral Wells State Park in February. We have also been planning a trip to Bayou Sauvage National Wildlife Refuge in New Orleans for September. I’m already really looking forward to these trips and everything in between.

Choosing between a campsite and a hotel is truly a no brainer for me. I’m thankful to have a partner who shares this opinion and a job that celebrates it and encourages me to go out and find new beautiful places to explore. I’m one happy camper!

Hartrich J. ~ “The service call to Coach-Net was answered immediately and the tow truck was here within 30 minutes. A follow-up call was made and we were very pleased with all of the responses. The tow truck company was personable and wonderful to work with. He had our vehicle at the dealer in half an hour! What a wonderful experience all around. Thank you!”

Coach-Net Camping: Terry, The RV Tech

Camping With Coach-Net: Terry The RV Tech

Terry is still fairly new to our family here at Coach-Net! And although he joined us almost a year ago, he has over 40 years of experience in the RV industry which makes him an amazing asset to have on our team! He loves the outdoors, classic cars, riding his Harley, and helping RVers enjoy a carefree lifestyle on the road! He recapped his trip for us, here’s what he had to say!

My wife and I were able to take the Coach-Net Airstream to the Vineyards Campground & Cabins in Grapevine Texas. It is a beautiful facility on the shore of Lake Grapevine and is city-owned and maintained. Our site was by the lake which made it especially beautiful at night when the lights from the marina nearby shown atop the water. We enjoyed 3 nights there and met some kind people who were also enjoying the facilities and beautiful weather that weekend. Thankfully, the trip went smoothly with no challenges or mishaps and I was even able to do a little maintenance on the camper.

Sundown At The Campsite

During our trip, I was able to do a bit of fishing. While I had a line in the water, a little boy named Diego walked over to me. He was 6 years old and while I offered to let him fish he was content to just keep me company and ask questions kids will do. He wanted to keep the fish I caught as pets but I was able to convince him that we needed to toss them back so they would be able to enjoy life in the lake. He reminded me of when my boys were that age and it was nice to have him as a company.

Terry Fishing

It was a great weekend, but it ended too soon. My wife and I plan to go there again sometime, the facilities were very nice and the people working there were super. In the meantime, we would love to take a tour of our beautiful state of Texas and explore some of the out-of-the-way places that this state has to offer.

When our family was young I happened to drive past a farm not too far from the small town where we lived. They had a small and very old “turtle” camper in their yard with a for sale sign on it that said 200 dollars. I went up to the house and gave him the 20 dollars I had in my pocket and told him I would be right back with the rest and something to pull it with. I parked it in my back yard and spent the next few weeks remodeling the inside, adding plumbing and electricity. We used that little camper for many years while our kids were growing up and made many memories with it. I sold it after the kids went to college to a young family who said they were going to use it to make memories with their family as well. I’m glad it could go to a good home.

Terry & Friends Around The RV

While my ideal RV has two wheels, one seat, an engine, handlebars, and a bedroll on the back, my wife’s is a house on wheels with a bed and restroom. So if I expect her to come along with me, we do it the way she wants! It is nice to be able to pull into a rest area, campground, or Walmart and just cook supper, take a shower, watch some TV, and go to sleep.

Terry's Wife Next To The Airstream

I’ve been in the RV business for 40 + years in every part of the industry there is and can attest to the fact that there are thousands of folks that are hooked on the RV lifestyle. There is a freedom that comes with it that draws you in and holds you and won’t let you go. You can tell you’ve got the fever when even though you’re glad to be home from being on the road, the next day you are already planning your next adventure.

Thomas P. ~ “Wonderful service! From the original call to having a tow truck to my location within 30 minutes to the follow-up call. I can’t thank you enough for your service! You are the only company I have had that cared about taking care of their customers”

Camping With Coach-Net: Kim Gregory, VP of Sales

Kim Gregory, our VP of Sales, has been a faithful member of the Coach-Net family for 13 years.  She, her husband, Jake, and their 5 children – yes, 5 – love to go camping.  They recently took Coach-Net’s Entegra out west on their latest vacation.  Want to hear about traveling with a set of toddler triplets? Read on!

Where did you go?

We spent 3 weeks traveling out west of Texas. We started in Santa Fe, New Mexico,  then drove around the backend of the Grand Canyon to get to Zion National Park. Zion is my absolute favorite place to go. We stayed in Southern Utah for a week exploring Zion, Bryce Canyon, and Snow Canyon.

Kim's Family Kim's ChildrenWe did lots of hiking and exploring. Then we headed to Lake Havasu for a quick family visit. On the way, we drove through the Mead recreation area and stopped to explore and have lunch. Our final stop and my new favorite place was Tucson. We stayed at Cataline State Park where we hiked, horseback rode and watched the prairie dogs.

How long was your trip?/Was this your 1st time RVing?

We were on the road for 3 weeks in total. No, we have taken 3 other road trip prior to this one and have loved every one of them!

What’s the fondest memory of your trip?

Kim's Husband And Son My favorite part of the trip was watching my 5 kids disconnect from their electronics, explore together, laugh together, and try new things. It’s so fun to watch because everything is so new and exciting for them.

Did you find anything challenging about your RV trip?

Yes, we had some issues with the generator overheating and turning off. This means no AC in the back of the RV with 100+ temps outside.  It was definitely hot, but we still made it fun.

Would you go again?

Kim and Her Husband I would absolutely go again. I love RVing! I would go all the time if my family’s schedules would allow it.

Where would you like to go next?

I’d love to go to Idaho.  It has such beautiful country that I have yet to explore. We want to go all the way to Coeur d’ Alene where we can hike, white water raft, zipline, kayak, and see the hot springs. That trip will also include visiting Shoshone Falls, Thousand Springs State Park, and Sun Valley.

Why do you love RVing?

There is nothing better than spending time outdoors with my family. I also love the spontaneity of it. You can go anywhere, change your plans, stay longer, or leave sooner. The trip is totally under your control. It’s the best part of RVing.

Kim's Children

Shannon, Coach-Net’s Client Sales Manager is always on the go.  When she’s not traveling across the country to train our partners, she loves being outdoors, especially when it involves her two adorable daughters.  Shannon took her girls on an adventure in Coach-Net’s Airstream, Rosie, and they had a memorable time.  So much so, that Shannon’s eldest started calling Rosie her very own “silver sparkly RV” and can’t wait to go again.

Where did you go?

My daughters and I went to the Vineyards Campground in Grapevine, TX. It’s a beautiful campsite right off the water.

Campsite

How long was your trip?

We spent 2 nights and three days there over the weekend for a little getaway!

Was this your 1st time RVing?

At the time yes, it was my first time RVing. I have now been out in the Airstream several times and each time has been a blast!

What’s the fondest memory of your trip?

Shannon's daughters camping.

My favorite part was how much my girls loved the RV. They were so excited when they arrived at the campground and saw it for the first time. Quinn, my eldest daughter kept calling it the silver sparkly RV. We also made smores which was their first time having them and they loved it.

Did you find anything challenging about your RV trip?

The only difficult part was remembering the process for getting the Airstream set up, leveled, and secured. It was quite overwhelming, thankfully David, our CEO walked me through setting up and tearing down which eased my worries. I also made sure I knew which RV Technicians we had working that weekend in case something went awry.

Would you go again?

Shannon's Camping Trip Picture

I’ve already been a few times since this trip and I would absolutely plan to go with my girls again. We are all itching to get back in the Airstream soon!

Where would you like to go next?

I would like to try to go a bit further and get more comfortable with towing the RV. I have been thinking about driving it up into Oklahoma for my next outing. I’ve heard great things about Broken Bow!

Why do you love RVing?

There is nothing better than waking up in the morning, pouring your first cup of coffee, and enjoying it right outside. I love spending my time outdoors, so to have it all at your fingertips while camping is the best. I’m in nature from first thing in the morning to last thing at night. Couldn’t ask for anything better.

Coach-Net Camping: Mt. Elbert, Colorado

Joseph is one of our highly skilled Learning Program Managers. He has been with Coach-Net for 3 years and we couldn’t be happier to have him! Recently, Joseph rented an RV with a few of his friends and drove up to Colorado! Here’s how his trip went!

Where did you go?

A group of my close friends and I went on a road trip to Mt. Elbert/Leadville, CO, and back to North Texas. We made so many stops on our trip, staying at a different campground every night, and even a gas station parking lot an hour outside Amarillo on our way to Colorado. We spent the first day in Leadville so two of our friends could attempt the hike up to the peak of Mt. Elbert the next morning. They made it only about 400 ft in elevation shy of the peak before turning around and heading back down to us. We also went to Buena Vista and Cañon City, CO, and spent time at the Royal Gorge Bridge, Centennial Park, and a couple KOAs along the way.

How long was your trip?

The whole trip was a little over four days long, leaving North Texas in the late afternoon on a Wednesday and driving the whole way back from South-Central Colorado that Sunday. We spent the first night outside Amarillo, the second night in at the Mt. Elbert Creek Campground, the third night at the Journey KOA in Buena Vista, and the last night at the Royal Gorge/Cañon City KOA.

Royal Gorge, CO

Was this your 1st time RVing?

This is now my fourth time RVing, after going once with my family to Inks lake, and taking out Coach-Net’s Airstream Flying Cloud to Broken Bow a couple times with a few friends. This was my first long-distance RV Roadtrip, and my first time driving a big motorhome! For this trip, we rented a Class C motorhome from Outdoorsy and drove it all the way to CO and back.

What’s the fondest memory of your trip?

We got to spend a lot of quality time together on this trip, especially since we spent so much time in the RV as we drove all over the place every day. I especially enjoyed getting to cook and eat most of our meals together, and spending time just relaxing in the Arkansas River that Saturday.

Did you find anything challenging about your RV trip?

Since we rented a bit of an older motorhome for this trip, we definitely had a couple minor hiccups, but thankfully no major challenges! We did learn as we were driving into Colorado that we needed to adjust the pressure settings on our generator since it couldn’t run at the higher elevation, and it took a couple nights of moving around our bedding options to figure out the most comfortable way for everyone to try and get a full night’s rest. My biggest challenge for this trip was definitely the drive home. It was my second time driving a motorhome, and I drove the last 6 hours of the trip home. Unfortunately, about 4 hours of that trip consisted of driving through a hail storm, a big thunderstorm, and even a crazy dust storm. It wasn’t fun…

Where would you like to go next?

Broken Bow, OK

I’m not really sure where I’d like to go RVing next, but I have a feeling it will be my usual spot of Beaver’s Bend National Park near Broken Bow, OK. We had a great experience there and have talked about going back!

Why do you love RVing?

I’m loving RVing more and more because it has become such a great opportunity to spend some good time with close friends, get out in nature, escape the city, and it gives us an excuse to make a lot of good, home-cooked meals.

Coach-Net Camping: Cooper State ParkKristen is the Director of Accounting here at Coach-Net and has been an invaluable member of the Coach-Net family for almost 20 years! She, her husband, and her two boys go on camping trips every year, but this year they were able to take the Airstream out to Cooper State Park! Check out their RV experience!

Where Did You Go?

We took our first RV camping trip to Cooper State Park last Fall (October 2019). Our family has gone camping with the same 3 families for the last 10 years.  All our kids have grown up with each other and our camping trips have definitely become a highlight every year.  We enjoy making these special camping memories with our children.  It’s wonderful to see them have a good time and detach themselves from their electronics for a couple days.

How Long Was Your Trip?

We spent 3 nights and 4 full days at this beautiful Texas state park.  In the past, we have always tent camped so this was a new and enjoyable experience. The RV was very comfortable and made it easy to relax with some of the same comforts as home.  I found that camping with the RV was much more relaxing because the set up was easier and faster. Being able to sleep on a bed instead of the ground made the world of a difference!

Did You Find Anything Challenging About Your RV Trip?

My husband attempted backing the RV in several times without much luck. After about 30 minutes of trying, a very nice couple from another campsite came over to help us out. Once we were able to get the camper backed in, we worked at getting it leveled and set up correctly. That was much easier!

What Was Your Fondest Memory Of Your Trip?

The fondest memory from this trip would probably be learning the ins and outs of Rosie the Airstream.

Where Would You Like To Go Next?

My family is very excited about our next RV trip in October. We have booked a site at Fairfield State Park in Texas!

Why Do You Love RVing?

I enjoy being away from the city for several days. It’s a great way for me to re-charge and disconnect. We usually find time to go for several family bike rides, hikes, fishing, and canoeing.
