Where did you go?
We went to Corpus Christi over Thanksgiving. It was about an 8-hour drive from Dallas, but we took a less direct route and traveled through some beautiful country roads. We stayed near Lake Corpus Christi instead of directly at the beach. It was nice and quiet and still close enough to make several beach trips.

How long was your trip?
We were gone for 8 days. We chose this particular park because it had full hookups including sewer and WIFI. We were able to work remotely, which allowed us to stay gone a little longer. It was nice having sewer on site, so we didn’t have to worry about having to utilize a dump station mid-trip.
Was this your 1st time RVing?
We are experienced campers, but this was one of our favorite trips. It is nice having a 5th wheel because you can disconnect and still have your truck to explore without having to lug a full-sized RV with you. Previously, we had only tent camped at the beach and it makes a huge difference having a full bathroom to rinse off all of the salt and sand.

What’s the fondest memory of your trip?
My fondest memory was surf fishing on Mustang Island. We bought some shrimp from a local bait shop and all three of us caught fish (mine was biggest!). It was fun to see my daughter try to reel in fish with the giant surf rod that was bigger than her.

Did you find anything challenging about your RV trip?
We did not have any issues with the trailer this time, but it was my first time cooking a full Thanksgiving dinner in an RV. We brought along our smoker for the turkey but still utilized our instant pot and oven quite a bit. I discovered that if you adjust the temp 10 degrees warmer on the RV oven than you would at home that things come out perfect.
Would you go again?
Absolutely! We had a great time exploring the Corpus Christi / Mustang Island area. We have a Texas State Park Pass and there are several state parks near there to explore. Next time we would probably pick a campground closer to the beach as the one we chose was kind of out in the middle of nowhere.

Where would you like to go next?
Our next trip will be to visit family for a few weeks in Arizona, but the next big vacation that we have planned will be to explore Florida. I traveled there a few years ago for work and can’t wait to bring the family back.
Why do you love RVing?
Our whole family loves RVing. We use it to get away and experience nature, but also as housing for longer trips to visit family. Even when you are working remotely, RVing gives you a break from the normal routine and house chores that would usually distract you. We spend much more time outside and together as a family in general. It’s the best.
Gerri K. ~ “The agents answered my call right away! She called me right back when she found a tow truck in my area that could come within 30 minutes. Excellent service.”

We did lots of hiking and exploring. Then we headed to Lake Havasu for a quick family visit. On the way, we drove through the Mead recreation area and stopped to explore and have lunch. Our final stop and my new favorite place was Tucson. We stayed at Cataline State Park where we hiked, horseback rode and watched the prairie dogs.
My favorite part of the trip was watching my 5 kids disconnect from their electronics, explore together, laugh together, and try new things. It’s so fun to watch because everything is so new and exciting for them.
I would absolutely go again. I love RVing! I would go all the time if my family’s schedules would allow it.
There is nothing better than spending time outdoors with my family. I also love the spontaneity of it. You can go anywhere, change your plans, stay longer, or leave sooner. The trip is totally under your control. It’s the best part of RVing.

Spending time with family on the lake! We borrowed a family member’s kayak and ended up falling in love with it. So we bought some of our own and took them out multiple times while we were there. Being that we have a toy hauler, we were also able to bring our SXS with us which made for some fun off-roading trips in the desert. Lastly, we made a little day trip up to Williams, AZ to visit Bearizona, which was a very cool place to visit.

This fall we are excited to visit the dunes at Little Sahara in Oklahoma. We also want to take it down to Galveston Island State Park which is another one of our favorite destinations.
Both my husband I have always loved camping as kids and thankfully our daughter has followed in that tradition. It is so nice to have a little home away from home whether you are in the woods, the beach, or in a family member’s backyard. Being able to work remotely from the trailer is the icing on the cake as we can get away much more often. It is a lot easier to put yourself in the customer’s shoes when you are literally living the RV lifestyle along with them!
Tonya has been with Coach-Net for four and a half years. For the past two years, she has been responsible for our Accounts Payable and Compliance. She and her husband have four teenagers at home and they love to travel, explore new places, and spend time in the outdoors. They make sure to take one trip a year without the kids each May to celebrate their anniversary. This year, for their 19th, they decided to take the RV out for the first time. Read on to see how her trip went!
Our goal was to see Garner State Park, but camping there is usually booked far in advance so we booked a site at a local RV Park, Camp Riverview RV Park in Concan, TX. I highly recommend this place. Our site had full hook-ups and sat only a few hundred yards from the Frio River. The staff was awesome. They greeted us upon arriving and even had people available to help us pull into the site and set everything up. I’m not ashamed to admit, we let them. It was hot! Thanks, Bill!
We went on Memorial Day Weekend, so it was four days and three nights. After our whole family being together on shelter-in-place orders since mid-March, we were well ready for this trip! We spent time at the RV park of course, but we also visited Garner State Park, the Frio Bat Cave Tours, and did a half-day float on the Frio.
Yes and we truly enjoyed the experience. My parents had a really nice Dodge Conversion van growing up. That was as close as I ever got to RV’ing. Neither of us had pulled anything that size or set up an RV before. We took turns driving the 350 miles down south and I think I did a pretty good job pulling it.
I would most definitely go again. We plan to! We like to camp with the kids several times a year. We all enjoy hiking and swimming. My son Noah especially loves to fish and build campfires for us. They are super excited to take the Airstream on our next trip.
